New Income Tax e-Filing Portal: ITR Filing 2.0 Website Link, Features, Benefits For Taxpayers And More

In a bid to make your ITR filing smooth, the CBDT has revamped the old ITR website. The Income Tax Department has launched its new e-filing portal– www.incometax.gov.in– on 7th June 2021. The portal is aimed at providing taxpayers with a convenient, modern and seamless experience while filing their returns. However, the new e-filing website was not accessible.

The Income Tax department will be launching a new income tax filing portal today which aims to provide a more user-friendly, modern and seamless experience to taxpayers.

The department informed about the rollout of the new e-filing portal on their official Twitter handle and said it will be available shortly. It will provide various advantages to the taxpayers and will make the process of tax payment easy.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes in a statement said that the Income Tax Department is launching its new e-filing portal www.incometax.gov.in on 7 June which is aimed at providing taxpayer convenience and a modern, seamless experience to taxpayers.

New Income Tax e-filing website

The Income Tax department has overhauled the existing old tax filing portal and a new income tax e-filing website will be launched today. At present, the current e-filing link is http://existing www.Incometaxindiaefiling.Gov.In and is currently put under a blackout period.

Income tax filing portal benefits

The new online portal will provide several benefits to the taxpayers and it will make the return filing process easy and convenient for them. The new tax payment system will be launched on 18 June after the advance tax advance tax instalment date to avoid any inconvenience.

Key Highlights:

1- It is taxpayer-friendly.

2- It is integrated with the immediate processing of Income Tax Returns (ITRs) to issue quick refunds to taxpayers. 

3- Keeping in view the convenience of the taxpayers, a single dashboard will display all the interactions and uploads or pending actions to help taxpayers with follow-up action.

4- Free of cost ITR preparation software with interactive questions to help taxpayers for ITRs 1, 4 (online and offline) and ITR 2 (offline) to begin with. The facility for preparation of ITRs 3, 5, 6, 7 will be made available shortly. 

5- Taxpayers will be able to proactively update their profile to provide certain details of income including salary, house property, business/profession which will be used in pre-filling their ITR. Detailed enablement of pre-filling with salary income, interest, dividend and capital gains will be available after TDS and SFT statements are uploaded (due date is June 30, 2021). 

6- New call centre for taxpayer assistance for prompt response to taxpayer queries.

7- Detailed FAQs, User Manuals, Videos and chatbot/live agent are also provided.

8- Functionalities for filing Income Tax Forms, Add tax professionals, Submit responses to Notices in Faceless Scrutiny or Appeals is available.

Here are some of the salient features of the new income tax e-portal that will be launched:

-The new income tax portal will issue detailed frequently asked questions (FAQ), chatbox, video, live agent to help the taxpayers understand the features of the new portal.

-The portal also comes with a reminder about the necessary compliance which will prompt the taxpayers to complete all their pending filings.

-Taxpayers will now be able to pre-fill their salary income, interest and dividends and all the capital gains will be reflected after TDS and SFT deductions.

-The new portal will also have a new online tax payment system with various options like net banking, credit card, UPI, NEFT and RTGS for easy payment of taxes.

-A new mobile application will also be launched subsequently which will help the taxpayers to understand various features of the new portal.
